Herron Todd White Group acquires environmental brokers Earthtrade.
General
Independent property advisory group Herron Todd White has acquired leading environmental broker Earthtrade, enhancing its services to clients who include landholders, resources companies, infrastructure projects and land developers. Earthtrade, previously the commercial arm of the Burnett Mary Regional Group Inc, was developed in 2008 to provide environmental offset solutions for development.
Herron Todd White specialises in property consultation and valuation requirements across a broad portfolio base. The company explains that offsets are used to maintain an ecosystem affected by infrastructure and/or property development activities and that offsets can only be used when all other efforts to avoid or minimise environmental impacts have been exhausted. The acquisition will enable Herron Todd White to assist clients navigate through their requirements in purchasing environmental offsets under diverse and complex legislation.
Herron Todd White, which operates 58 offices nationally and reports an annual turnover of over $70 million, will further develop the Earthtrade brand by bringing its national network, deep customer relationships and broad offer of services to this emerging market.
Board Chairman, Gavin Hulcombe, believes Herron Todd White is well suited to help shape the issues around environmental sustainability in the property market. “With our in-depth understanding of rural values and our extensive network, we can help our customers better understand their obligations and assist in matching their demand for offsets with available supply”, he said.
Herron Todd White said the opportunity to deliver environmental offset solutions to clients at the feasibility stage will assist in reducing project timelines and decreasing overall costs. The group also reports that a number of large organisations are already investigating issues of sustainability, from approval conditions relating to finance, to internal policies designed to address environmental impacts of development projects.
The Herron Todd White Group was formed over 40 years ago in Queensland and has grown to be the largest independent property advisory company in Australia. The acquisition of Earthtrade further reinforces Herron Todd White’s strategy to provide to clients trusted property solutions at a national, state and local level.
Managing Director of Herron Todd White (Environmental) Pty Ltd, Mr Alan Key, has been involved in the development of the Earthtrade business since inception and believes the acquisition of the business by Herron Todd White is a significant event for the group.
